Kyaninga Lodge is located in Kibale National game park in fort portal hence the western part of Uganda. Kyaninga Lodge is perched on the edge of an extinct Volcanic Crater Lake at the base of the Rwenzori Mountains, popularly referred to as the Mountains of the moon. The Rwenzori mountains and the Kyaninga crater lake provide a spectacular backdrop and dramatic views to Kyaninga Lodge.
The location of Kyaninga Lodge is where the Great Rift Valley meets the mighty Congo Basin. One can experience the beauty and romance while on safari holiday in the largely unexplored region of Kyaninga Lodge and Fort Portal on the way to track chimpanzees in Kibale Forest and onward to Queen Elizabeth Park for safari game drives. The lodge has 9 luxury cottages or wooden chalets made from hand carved logs, a carpentry masterpiece from the English owner of the lodge. Cottages/ Accommodation
They are 9 luxury furnished cottages at the lodge offering visitors a comfortable stay here with ultimate privacy and tranquillity. The cottages are spacious with luxury bathrooms. Each of the cottages has a choice of twins or double beds with luxury beddings to make your nights as comfortable as possible. The cottages are powered by a modern solar power system that provides all day and night hot water showers and electricity charging points. The indoor seating area leads to a private balcony where you can enjoy fantastic views of the majestic Mountain Rwenzori and Kyaninga Lake underneath while sipping on your morning tea. The en-suite bathrooms boast marble countertops basins set atop crafted Elgon olive pedestals, claw footed freestanding baths and glass-walled shower rooms.
Lounge and dining
Kyaninga Lodge serves delicious European meals on the food menus with a touch of local ingredients handpicked from Kyaninga’s own kitchen garden. Enjoy a three course meal in the dining section of the main lodge, with views of Kyaninga Lake and the Rwenzoris on the horizon.

Swimming pool
The swimming pool at Kyaninga Lodge is where one can go and refresh after a strenuous Chimpanzee trek in Kibale Forest or a Bigodi Swamp walk. Kyaninga Grounds
The landscape of Kyaninga gardens are the brainchild of a famous London landscape designer Imogen Jenkins. The spectacular view of the Kyaninga crater lake provides an excellent start to one’s adventure at Kyaninga Lodge. Stroll through or take a seat in the gardens whose setting is one of relaxation, reflection and space for games like the lawns for tennis. At times the wild animals can be sighted on the door steps. Enjoy guided walks by expert guides to explore Kyaninga Crater Lake and through the local forest and bushes to see different species of primates that call Kyaninga home.
The lodge offers guests a full package which not only includes all meals but gives full access to the facilities found at Kyaninga Lodge. These include a lawn tennis court, a swimming pool carved out of the volcanic crater itself, not to mention a badminton court and use of both a boule and croquet set.
All guided walks are inclusive as well. These range from a leisurely stroll around the rim of the volcanic crater, an adventurous trek through the tropical rainforest or a spectacular 3 hour walk through the Ugandan countryside to the edge of the Albertine Escarpment, culminating with stunning views of the Semiliki Valley and the Blue Mountains of Congo, the perfect setting for a hot picnic.
Kyaninga Lodge is a 45 minute drive from the starting point of the chimp trekking in Kibale Forest and 100% of the lodge’s international guests take part in this activity. The lodge is also 1 hour and half drive from the starting point of the trekking point at the Rwenzori mountains making Kyaninga Lodge an ideal destination. Conveniently, Kyaninga Lodge is a comfortable 2 hour drive away from Queen Elizabeth National Park making it a very popular accommodation choice in Fort Portal for guests wanting to travel to the National Park.

DIRECTIONS
Turn north at Mpanga Bridge, about 2 Kms outside Fort Portal town on the Kampala Road (signposted).
Follow the road for 1.8 Kms and turn left at the Kyaninga Lodge signpost.
Follow the road for another 6 Kms until you reach the lodge.
From Fort Portal town to Kyaninga Lodge should take 15-20 minutes.
