Theresa Nakalanzi-Founder

Our founder Ms Theresa Nakalanzi is one of the pioneers of luxury safari holidays in Uganda since the early 2000s when very few folks knew about going on safari in style. Ms Theresa Nakalanzi understood that travel and safaris ought not to be just ordinary but that journeys needed to offer comfort, authenticity and uniqueness. A retired school headmistress, Ms Nakalanzi was one of the pioneer tourists in the 1980s from Uganda to far-flung places including Italy and Israel from which travels she caught the travel bug that compelled her to be one of the founders of Habari Travels, our parent company.
Ms Nakalanzi’s focus from the beginning was to enable visitors to Uganda to discover the Pearl of Africa in a uniquely authentic and comfortable manner. The beginnings were very modest, with only a minivan and a few self drive compact 4x4s that would enable visitors go off on their own self drive safaris. The stories and some of the disasters that emanated from self drive vehicle rentals, compelled Ms Nakalanzi to heighten her focus on guided, well designed and efficiently executed safari itineraries so that visitors to East Africa would leave with memorable journey experiences. Today Habari Travels has sales offices in London and ground handling offices in Kampala, Kigali, Nairobi, Arusha and Addis Ababa.
Habari Travels continues to work with experienced and expert driver guides as well as office based safari travel consultants that are extremely passionate about the authentic safaris that they design for our ardent travelers. The Legacy of our founder Ms Theresa Nakalanzi, lives on through the standards that she established more than 20 years ago that remain in place for each and every safari holiday that we execute.
