Jacana safari lodge is perched on the edge of Uganda’s largest crater lake -Lake Nyamusingire, in a forested area of Maramagambo Forest in Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda. Jacana lodge is perhaps the first and oldest safari lodge in Queen Elizabeth Park and a pioneer in the eco-lodges’ category having belonged to the stable of geolodges that owns The Rainforest Lodge Mabira, Equator Snow Lodge Rwenzori and Nile Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park. Jacana Lodge has thus over the years perfected the art and skills of hosting luxury safari clients whenever they visit Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The lodge was opened to visitors way back in 1998 and has since hosted an enviable list of ardent travelers and visitors to the beautiful and game rich Queen Elizabeth National Park. Jacana Lodge’s setting is such that it blends in extremely well into the natural environment. The Captain’s Table is one of its kind floating pontoon and a great way to soak in the dramatic views of the lake as well as sundowners. The Captain’s table can be deployed for any meals of the day, for sundowners and for exploring the splendid parts of the park.
Accommodation at Jacana safari lodge is in 10 recently renovated luxury wooden chalets. The lodge has family cottages with two adjoining rooms that would comfortably host guest families. The luxury en-suite washrooms are fitted with luxury baths and showers that run hot water for showers 24/7.

Game Drives:
Queen Elizabeth National Park is perhaps the most popular and most visited park in Uganda. Game drives are along the Mweya peninsula and the Kasenyi plains in search of the lions, elephants, antelopes, buffalos, leopards, warthogs and the tree climbing lions of Ishasha sector of the park.
Jacana safari lodge can organize game drives in 4×4 safari customized vehicles for guests who may not be travelling in 4×4 vehicles. The lodge can also organized guided game drives as there is resident professional guides at the lodge.
Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel:
The Kazinga channel connects Lake Edward with Lake George. Boat cruises along the Kazinga channel are a perfect way to view games and birds in the hot African sun, as the wildlife and animals come to the banks of the lakes to drink. Be sure to see plenty of hippos, elephants, crocodiles, buffalos and birds. Launch cruises can be arranged by Jacana Lodge twice a day with boat cruises departing at 9 amd and 2pm from the park headquarters. The lodge does arrange picnic lunch boxes if required.
Forest Walks:
Jacana safari lodge is situated in a forest setting. Guided and self-guided walking safaris are the best way of exploring the areas around the lodge. The forest walks are an exciting way to view birds, butterflies and the splendid fauna around the lodge. You will have plenty of opportunities to take beautiful photos for your safari folder.
Kayaks:
The lodge is perched on the edge of Uganda’s largest crater lake, Lake Nyamusingire. There are plenty of opportunities for adventure guests to explore the lake with activities including swimming and kayaking. Jacana lodge has a kayak that can take 2 people to enable you explore the lake and enjoy a cool breeze as you sail away on the lake.
