Safari highlights.

Game drives in Murchison Falls National Park, with the opportunity to get upclose and personal with wildlife and the big 5 of lions, elephants and buffalos in addition to the plenty of giraffes found in the park and other animals.

Safaris and game drives in the Narus Valley and Kidepo Valley of Kidepo National parks in search of cheetahs and lions plus birds that are found in Kidepo in plenty.

Boat cruise on the legendary River Nile. Board a boat at Paraa Lodge and sail down the river Nile up to Murchison Falls where the Nile waters are forced through a narrow gorge and drop 60 metres down below. Spectacular is understatement. While you sail down the Nile you will have spending view of game drinking water on the banks of the river during the scorching sun. You will view plenty of crocodiles, elephants, buffalos, giraffes and birds.

Karamajong village experience to learn about their local way of living, history, cultures and traditions.

Visit the source of the Nile in Jinja and take part on kayaking and rafting the Nile.

Day 1 – Arrival at Entebbe airport.

On arrival to Entebbe airport, you will be met and greeted by your expert driver guide who will brief you about your safari to Jinja, Sipi, Lira, Kidepo and Murchison Falls. You will proceed to your accommodation in Kampala. Time permitting you will have a brief Kampala city tour that will include visits to Namirembe & Rubaga cathedrals, Bulange and Kasubi tombs of the Buganda kingdom, as well as Bahai temple and Namugongo Uganda martyrs shrine.

Day 2 – Transfer from Kampala to Jinja.

On this day after breakfast, we leave Kampala very early and drive towards Jinja. We shall have a stop over in Mabira forest where we shall have a nature walk in this endangered natural rainforest because of the illegal timber cutting taking place. We later proceed to Jinja where lunch is envisaged with subsequent visit to the source of the Nile. We have prepared a range of optional activities for you including a boat trip on the Nile, white water rafting, kayaking, bungee jumping, quad biking or horse riding. We are certainly starting the safari with a bang. Uganda has so much to offer when on tour here, safari tour time has to be maximised to undertake as many activities as possible.

Day 3 – Transfer from Jinja to Sipi Falls.

Today we depart from Jinja after breakfast and drive towards Sipi Falls on the slopes of Mt Elgon. We drive through beautiful scenery and local villages. On arrival to Sipi, we take a guided walk to the splendid Sipi falls in the afternoon.

Later we return to our accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Transfer from Sipi Falls to Lira.

After breakfast, we depart from Sipi falls and drive to Lira a fairly small town in Northern Uganda with busy local markets and coffee houses. Enroute to Lira we shall have a brief stopover at Nyero rock paintings and stop in some villages for a local village experience with the locals of Lira. We later arrive to Lira town and spend the night at Margaritha Palace Hotel.

Day 5 – Transfer from Lira to Kidepo Valley National Park.

We depart from our hotel in Lira fairly early for the drive to Kidepo National Park. We drive past manyattas small grass thatched houses that are common for the Karamajong. Kidepo Valley National Park is a secluded wildlife heaven with plenty of opportunities to see giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, cheetahs and ostriches. Our accommodation for the next few days are either the beautiful and luxury Apoka Safari Lodge or the newer Kidepo Savannah Lodge.

Day 6 – Safari in Kidepo Valley National Park.

A very early breakfast on this day and we immerse ourselves in an early morning safari game drive in search of lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards and giraffes that are in plenty in the Narus Valley of Kidepo Valley national park. We return to the lodge for lunch and later go for an afternoon safari game drive in search of more game and wildlife.. Later return to the lodge for an evening around a warm fire to reminisce about today’s safari tour activities in the beautiful off the beaten track Kidepo.

Day 7 – 2nd day of safari in Kidepo

You will wake up to a quiet environment around your lodge. Kidepo is the least visited park in Uganda. There still isn’t a feel of mass tourism and a criss-crossing of safari vehicles here. Kidepo feels so private, vast and unspoilt with plenty of wildlife and game. You will have an early morning game drive, this time in the Kidepo Valley section of the park. Be sure to see plenty of cheetahs here and for avid birders there is so many bird species here. In the afternoon we schedule a visit to a Karamajong local village for you to get a Karamajong village experience to learn about the ways of living of the Karamajong, their culture, traditions, norms and history. It is a unique experience not to be missed on this safari. We later return to the lodge for overnight and dinner.

Day 8 – Transfer from Kidepo to Kitgum.

Today we must bid our goodbyes to beautiful Kidepo and continue with our safari to Kitgum which is a 4hrs drive from Kidepo. We have a morning safari game drive on our way out of Kidepo and drive to Kitgum. We check in and overnight at Boma hotel as we prepare for exciting safari tour activities that wait us in Murchison Falls National park the following day.

Day 9 – Transfer from Kitgum to Murchison Falls National park.

We depart Kitgum very early in morning and head south to Murchison Falls National park to continue with our safari adventure. We enter Murchison Falls park through the northern gate. Murchison Falls National Park is one of the most game and wildlife rich parks in Uganda. The legendary Murchison Falls are found here. We have a game drive and later check into our lodge for the night.

Day 10 – Murchison Falls National Park

Early morning safari game drive in search of elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalos, oribis, leopards and plenty of other animals found in the park. We return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon at 2pm we boat a boat cruiser along the Nile and head to the bottom of the falls. Enroute you will spot plenty of animals on the banks of the Nile when they come down to drink and soak in the hot afternoon sun. Expect to see lots of crocdiles, buffalos, elephants, giraffes and birds. Afternoon boat ride on the Victoria Nile up to the bottom of the falls.

Day 11 – Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest

After breakfast, we cross using the ferry if we spent the night at Paraa Safari Lodge. We check out the top of the falls as we drive south to Budongo forest where we are bound to see many bird species, primates, wildlife and chimpanzees. In the afternoon we go chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest. We later return to our lodge for the night.

Day 12 – Transfer from Budongo to Kampala.

Our safari holiday is about to some to an end after the past safari loaded activities. We depart from Budongo forest and drive to Kampala, with lunch at Zziwa Rhino sanctuary time permitting. Ziwa sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can track the white rhinos. From Ziwa we drive to Kampala, connect to Entebbe airport for your late evening departure flight.
