Guided self-drive tours are one of the specialty service offerings of TEA (Tours East Africa) and the latest of our trip additions at Tours East Africa. We have offered self drive 4×4 vehicle rentals in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya since 2007.
We decided to add the guided self drive tour style of tours due to the popular demand of our clients and travellers, who have over the years decided to have their holidays in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya, sometimes choosing to do a combined Lake Victoria loop tour through the 4 countries combined. The guided self-drive tours are unique in the sense that one is free to do a guided self drive tour of just one destination, a combination of any 2 destinations, any 3 destination or all the East Africa destinations depending on their tour preferences, budget and style.
On our part, we offer knowledgeable English speaking, French speaking or German speaking guides, local knowledge trip planning back up and rental of camping equipment if preferred or an accommodation booking service and permits’ purchase assistance if applicable to your tour.
Our Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya guided self-drive safaris and tours are ideal for the East Africa tour enthusiast that seeks adventure in this great safari part of the world but without the advantage of having the tour experience of the much sought after destinations and corners of this visitor attractions rich part of Africa. Our guided self drive tours mostly require access to 4x4s and take one to the less known, less touristy and less travelled parts of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Our guides and advance trip planning service offers one tour bush survival skills as well as the passion of travel to these off the beaten tracks of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
Our TEA Guided Self-drive tours are preferred by independent travellers who are not keen on scheduled group tours and for those who wish to explore the less touristy parts of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Tour participants receive solid assurances of a professional guide together with a tour back up support system should anything not go according to plan with the 4×4 tour vehicle, the tour accommodation or camping facilities.
Another advantage of guided self drive tours is security and local knowledge which will give you peace of mind that if anything happens to the rental 4×4 vehicle that our guide would normally fix, find a repair garage or call up a replacement vehicle from the field office. Our guides also have tonnes of guiding experience in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya, therefore you do not need to worry about finding directions, spotting a lion in the Serengeti, cats in Masaai Mara or the elusive tree climbing lions in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda. Our operational offices in Kampala, Kigali, Nairobi and Arusha provide constant and daily updated information to our tour guides in the field.
