Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is situated in very close proximity to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park from where clients assemble for pre-gorilla trekking briefing on the morning of the mountain gorilla treks.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is located adjacent to Volcanoes National Park, PNV, in Northern West Rwanda and 2.5hrs drive from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is conveniently located at the base of the famous Virunga volcanoes that cover the entire stretch from Uganda, DRC and Rwanda. The lodge’s location offers it very splendid to die for views of the volcanoes and the Rwandan villages further beyond.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge’s main lodge and accommodation cottages are pure luxury exquisitely constructed and appointed to cater for the creature comforts of luxury travelers who are most in Volcanoes National Park for trekking the rare mountain gorillas, golden monkeys or to trek either Volcano Karisimbi or Bisoke. Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is a community owned lodge. Your stay at the lodge will thus got a long way in developing the social, economic and conservation projects of the communities that live near Volcanoes National Park and will assist in preserving the existence of the rare mountain gorillas.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge has a total of 2 suites, 1 family cottage and six cottages. All the buildings are made with stones and roofed with Rwandan terracotta roof tiles. The cottages have very large lounges, fireplaces and chic ensuite bathrooms with venetian plastering and a covered verandah. The hot water is provided by heat exchangers from the fireplaces. The family cottage is composed of 2 ensuite rooms connected by a shared verandah.
The main lodge hosts the lode reception, sitting room, dining room, library, games room, a curio shop for crafts and washrooms. The main lodge has 3 massive fireplaces that provide a constant supply of heating and hot water in the bathrooms. All the rooms have wooden floors and enjoy great views of the Virunga Volcanoes and the Rwanda countryside. Enjoy predinner drinks and relax on the covered verandahs and patios.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge enjoys an advantage of being in close proximity to Volcanoes National Park and the Virunga Mountains/Volcanoes. The lodge’s location makes it an ideal accommodation of choice for clients who are in PNV for trekking the rare mountain gorillas, tracking golden monkeys, hiking one of the volcanoes of Karisimbi, Muhabura or Bisoke. Other excursions from Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge include hiking to Dian Fossey’s grave, nature and villages walks to Lakes Bulera & Ruhondo, visit to a local school or market or a 1.5hrs drive to the lakeside town of Gisenyi on the shores of Lake Kivu.
Other options include guided birding walks, mountain biking excusrions and nature walks in Volcanoes National Park area on the edges of the forest.
