Semliki Safari Lodge is located in the Semliki Wildlife Reserve and is the finest accommodation in one of Uganda’s Wildest Places-Semliki. Semliki safari lodge is situated in the heart of the Albertine Rift Valley. Semliki Wildlife Reserve is surrounded by the foothills of the mountains of the moon-The Rwenzori mountains and Lake Albert. The reserve is gifted by nature with a forest that hosts many game and birds and is the oldest protected reserve in Uganda.
Semliki Safari lodge is about 6 hours drive from Kampala and a comfortable 1.5hours drive from the closest town of Fort Portal. If you are arriving to Semliki Safari Lodge by air, flight take about 2 hours from Entebbe International Airport and will fly to Semliki Airstrip which is conveniently very close to Semliki Safari Lodge. You will arrive to a waiting vehicle that will transfer you to the lodge.
Semliki safari lodge is secluded, authentic and cozy. Staying at the lodge evokes memories of the old exploration times of Speke and Baker to the Pearl of Africa. The main lodge with its thatched roof, comfy armchairs and sofas is situated on a hill with dramatic views of the Semliki Valley and the Rwenzori Mountains of the moon in the horizon. There is total privacy and serenity here. Leave it all behind and immerse yourself into the African safari wild experience. The main lodge has an expansive dining lounge adorned with traditional local art and crafts together with spectacular forest and mountain views. In addition, the main lodge has a veranda bar and swimming pool for cooling off when the sun gets a bit too hot for you. Sip a Ugandan local beer or Arabica/Robusta coffee poolside in the evenings.
Accommodation is in 8 tents that can host a maximum of 18 guests on any given night (1 family tent sleeping 3-4 | 3 double tents sleeping 2 each | 4 twin tents sleeping 2 each). Children of all ages are accepted at the lodge. Each of the tents is furnished with beautiful hardwood floorings. The safari lodge offers great fresh foods, attention to detail and an unforgettable guest stay experience at Semliki Safari Lodge.
Activities at the Semliki Lodge include game drives, walking safaris in search of game, picnics, private dinners, bush breakfasts & sundowners. When staying at the lodge one can go birding, join Chimpanzee research project trips as well as have Lake Albert boat trips or simply stay at the lodge and have a cooling off in the lodge’s swimming pool.
Semliki Game Reserve is a birder’s haven with over 425 recorded bird species. The flora and fauna in Semliki is quite simply awesome. You will see Ugandan kob, chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, forest & savanna elephants and buffalos roam the Semliki Reserve. The shoebill is also regularly spotted on boat cruises along Lake Albert. Semliki Safari Lodge established the Semliki Chimpanzee Research project as part of its conservation efforts. Guests are welcome to have a conversation with the resident chimpanzee research to learn about chimps behaviours and the chimp habituation experience.
Semliki Safari Lodge is open throughout the year. December – March: Hot & dry
April – June: Relatively rainy
July – September: Dry with occasional passing rain
October – November: Short heavy rains
Temperatures are typically warm, but warmer clothing may be needed for evenings / early mornings during the rainy season.
